An active investigation is underway on a busy central Phoenix freeway on Tuesday.
Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers responded to an “unknown situation” around 5 a.m., where several vehicles were stopped on the left shoulder of eastbound Interstate 10 near Washington Street. The call led to a heavy presence of law enforcement on I-10 in this area.
DPS spokesperson Raul Garcia said troopers found human remains scattered on the freeway, apparently from a pedestrian being hit by multiple vehicles. Several of the vehicles involved remained at the scene, but others did not.
Garcia asks any drivers who think they may be involved or anyone with information that could assist this investigation to call DPS at 877-4AZ-TIPS (877-429-8477) or submit a tip online here.
Arizona’s Family’s crew could see a body at the scene. There are no details yet on why the person was on the interstate to begin with, and no identification has been made.
DPS troopers blocked the HOV and left lanes on eastbound I-10 at Washington Street. The road restriction was lifted around 11 a.m. This remains an active investigation
